Electric Circuit Laboratory
This Lab has a sufficient number of cathode ray oscilloscopes (CRO), audio oscillators, function generators, regulated DC power supplies, multimeters, DC voltmeters and ammeters, AC voltmeters and ammeters, galvanometer, and all ranges of resistors and capacitors to perform all the basic experiments related to the electric circuits.
Electronic Devices and Circuit Laboratory
This lab contains enough quantity of variable DC power supplies, 30 MHz CROs, multimeters, regulated power supplies, audio oscillators, LCR meter, decade resistance boxes, decade inductance boxes, decade conductance boxes, step-down transformers, regulator ICs, ammeters and voltmeters, and all ranges of resistors and capacitors to conduct experiments on the characteristics of various electronic devices such as diodes, BJT, JFET, MOSFET, LED, UJT, photo diode, photo transistor, diac, triac, SCR and the electronic circuits made out of them.
Electronic Circuits Design Laboratory
Function generators, regulated variable power supplies, fixed dual power supplies,
3½- digit multimeters, audio oscillators, op-amp ICs, DRB, DCB, DIB, basic active and passive devices, ammeters and voltmeters and CROs are available in this laboratory which are used to design all the electronic circuits.
Digital System Design and Signal Processing Laboratory
Digital IC trainer kits, digital and analog IC testers, 7-segment displays, LEDs, signal generators, logic analyzer add-on for PC/XT/AT compatible, analog computer trainers, TM320C5X DSP Processors, power supplies, RS232C buses, CROs, Interfacing cables, TMS320C54X DSP starter kit, ADSP 2181 kit, Code Composer Studio, MATLAB 6.5.1 (Release13) package, spectrum analyzer, Pentium III computer systems, dot matrix printers, and laser printers are available in this laboratory.
Microprocessor and Control Laboratory
Microprocessor trainer kits - 8085, 8086, Microcontroller trainer kits - 8031/8051/PIC controllers, PC based temperature controller, stepper motor and its interface modules, Computers with serial/parallel ports, LVDT position control system, AC motor, DC motor, Speed control system, Cassette, dual DAC, ADC interface, keyboard display interface, 8251/8253 study card, 8237 study card are included in this lab.
Communication System Laboratory
Multiple output power supplies, CROs, frequency counters, function generators, audio oscillators, RF oscillators, noise generators, AM receiver trainer kit, digital communication trainers, Modulation kits for AM, FM, PAM, PPM, and PWM, AM/FM signal generators, DRB, DCB, DIB, Microphone / Loud Speaker Characteristics kit, and MATLAB and PSPICE software packages are provided.
Electronic System Design Laboratory
Wireless data modem setup, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) trainer kit, Process controller timer trainer kit, CROs, Digital multimeters, EASY PC software for PCB layout design, MultiSIM software package, Microprocessor / Microcontroller based system design kit, DSP based system design kit, and other passive and active devices required for performing various experiments are kept in this laboratory.
RF Laboratory
This laboratory consists of two antenna training systems, one operating at a spot frequncy of 170 Mhz and the other system operating in the frequency range 86 - 860 Mhz.
The antenna system includes RF Transmitter, RF Receiver and a stepper motor mechanism for rotating the receiving antenna. The antenna system is also supported by a software to plot the radiation pattern of the test antenna.
RF (1 Ghz) circuit trainer kits are available alongwith an Agilent make Spectrum Analyser (1.5 Ghz). A Transmission line analyser is also available alongwith a 100 Mhz CRO, to measure the values of parameters on a coaxial line.
Microwave Communication Laboratory
The Microwave laboratory has many number of X - band and J - band microwave test benches each consisting of microwave source, power supply, detector, isolator, attenuator, frequency meter, slotted line section, VSWR meter, power meters, 3-port circulator, matched termination, liquid dielectric cell, solid dielectric cell, tunable probe, wave guide bends, wave guide rotary joints, sectoral horn, circular-to-rectangular waveguide transition, microwave diffraction spectrometer, X-band microwave communication system demonstrator for one voice channel-simplex, Gunn diode source, PIN modulator, monitor, detector, components and accessories required for radiation pattern measurements such as calibrated antenna turn table, two horn antennas, reflector antenna with feed, 90o twist (two), microwave passive components such as directional couplers – 3 dB, 10 dB, 20 dB, E-Plane TEE, H-Plane TEE, magic TEE, slide screw tuner, movable short, and crystal diodes
Optical Communication Laboratory
The Optical communication laboratory contains LED and LD sources of various wavelengths, PIN diode, APD, optical power supply, function generator, plastic fiber with end connectors, single mode glass with end connectors, multimode glass fiber with end connectors, adapters, optical power meters, digital multimeters, DC power supply. This also has Fiber trainer kits for the following experiments – study of fiber characteristics, analog modulation, digital modulation, time division multiplexing, analog link, digital link, voice link, video link, numerical aperture, fault location finding in fiber link, and supporting accessories such as optical components, connectors, adapters, terminals, etc.
VLSI Laboratory
Xilink make VLSI software – foundation series 5.1i, Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) Trainer kit, FPGA trainer kit, and all other basic requirements are found.
Advanced Communication Laboratory
This laboratory has been equipped with the latest set-ups including Fiber optic kit (glass fiber based) with TTL detector, Fiber optic kit (glass fiber based) with PIN detector, pulse generator, signal generator, oscilloscope, digital communication kit with noise generation features, digital transmission analyzer – transmitter and receiver, microwave test bench, microwave test bench with horn antenna, calibrated turn table and twister, VSWR meter, power meter, RF test equipment (upto 1 GHz), and MATLAB software package with communication tool box.
Electronic Engineering Practice
This laboratory has the all tools and equipments to provide exposure to the students with hands-on experience on various basic engineering practices in Electronics Engineering such as soldering and de-soldering stations, assorted electronic components for making circuits, small PCBs, Multimeters, telephones, FM radios, and low-voltage power supplies
Audio Visual Resource Center
This center is provided with the necessary audio and video equipments and instruments: Over Head Projector, Multimedia Projector, Slide Projector, Epidiascope Projector, Laser Pointers, Educational Charts, 29” Colour TV with remote, VCR with remote, VCD Player with remote, Video Course Cassettes on various subjects, Video Compact Discs, Amplifiers, Mixers, Speakers, Distribution Preamplifiers, Public Address Cassette Amplifier, Microphones, Tape Recorder, Cordless Mikes, Collar Mikes, Satellite Receiving System.
Department Library
For the benefit of the Department staff members and students, a separate library has been installed in our department. It has more than 600 volumes of technical books on 570 titles on various subjects. Eleven National and 13 International Journals (including IEEE Journals) have been subscribed for the department library and subsequently they will be sent to the Central library. The library also has a reading hall that can accommodate about 25 people
