          Computer science and Engineering department was established in 1984 to create   socially responsible, strong minded technocrats in and around Kovilpatti.

Computer Centres:

          The Department has 300 pentium based computers  accommodated in 4 computer centres with recent software and internet facility to feed the art of computer science to our budding engineers. Our computer centre is kept open even after the
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

college hours to help the students to raise their programming skills using current and latest software tools. Students are permitted to utilize  the computer centre during all the morning, evening session and also on saturdays for increasing their programming skill using conventional and latest software tools.

          Students can surf into internet from 7.00 AM to 8.00 PM

 

         Sophisticated and latest software have been purchased to enable the faculty as well as students to pursue their research / project works.

 

Human Resources:  

          The Department is headed by innovative, strong and out spoken person Dr. K. Ramar, Professor who has been  working in the college since 1986. The department has stable staff members with avid  interest to do research activities in the topics of latest fields.

 

          Our faculty members are constantly updating their knowledge to meet the growing demands of the student community by attending and presenting National and International Conferences and  Seminars.

   

          More than that, we are providing friendliness and stress free “Home away from home “ environment to students to make them as  responsible and innovative persons.

 

NEC CSE In Community Services:

 

?   We have offered a Computer Awareness Training Program about the Basics  of computers for the Thoothukudi District Police personals 

 

?   We, CSE department lent a hand to Kovilpatti Taluk Office to prepare voters list for Thoothukudi District

 

?  We have furnished adequate computer facilities to systematize EB data details for Electricity  board  who are giving light to our world.

 

?    We have a Computer training program to  rural school students who are the heart of India as told by our father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi 

 

Departmental  Activities:

 

Students have been motivated  to extend their communication, technical skills by  various channel  like Computer Engineering Association (CEA) , Computer Society of India (CSI) Students chapter.

 

1.      Computer Engineers Association

 

             Computer Engineers Association was inaugurated in the year 1991. The main aim is to motivate the student community by moulding their technical brain through various activities like Technical Seminars from the peers of the computer field, Conducting technical Quizzes to sharpen their minds, Conducting Symposiums both in Intra & Inter college levels. All these helps the students to meet, and face challenges in the Inter-Departmental and Inter Collegiate activities in the IT field.

     2.      CSI Students Chapter:

 

            The Computer Society of India(CSI) students chapter has been functioning in our college since 1994.  Our CSI Chapter  received the Best CSI students Chapter award during 1994-95 & 1995-96. Various technical proceedings are being accomplished by this Chapter in order to improve the technical skills of our students. Regular seminars are arranged for updating the knowledge in modern topics. Technical symposium has been conducted by the CSI chapter in order to bring out the super brain.

                           3.      Seminar Hours:

 

      

     “Practice makes the man Perfect”

   

 

 

           Importance has been given to the seminar hours, to extract the hidden talents from the students. The students can deliver their innermost ideas and topics about modern trends in Information Technology. Students are encouraged to impart their innovate thoughts in  group discussions to make them as a competitive person.

                          4. Tutor Hours:

 

 

          To make our technocrats as a socially responsible, committed persons, we are counseling every students single-handedly during tutor hours. Every student can frankly discuss about their personal problems to their tutors to get relief from the mental problems. The objective of the tutor hour is to create a stress free environment.
